This Stockley park bollocks is the problem. If a var referee rules it as offside, onside, no hand ball etc then its taken as gospel. Judging by the decisions yesterday the Stockley Park official's are Liverpool fans.

Agree- it's stupid. I'd have said that was surely a clear and obvious error too.
If they are happy giving penalties for people getting the ball booted at their arms from five yards away, then how the hell when he clearly raises his arm to deflect the ball away from a good distance where it was kicked is that not a nailed on penalty under the new rules.
In the end, it doesn't matter what the rules and methods are, if the people applying them can't do it properly or consistently. But under it's current use, VAR has added nothing to the game. They are still just going with what the on field call is almost all the time, whether it's accurate or not, which leads to what definitely are mistakes and bad calls, but just not 'obvious' enough being seen by everyone but still allowed to stand. The application of the technology is simply woeful.
Use it for offside and nothing else. And while they are at it, measure from the torso rather than the furthest extremity. Someone being onside or offside because of a trailing arm or toe is just stupid.

The word Sky had from Stockley Park was that A-A’s arm wasn’t in an unnatural position. Think they may have even talked about the ‘short’ distance the ball travelled.
The mind boggles
The ball travelled about 3 or 4 yards and he instinctively moved his arm to block it.
They might as well bin the whole thing if those are the sort of decisions they are coming up with

A caller on 5live asked last night if, had the penalty been given, would VAR have over ruled and said no if they didn’t think it was a penalty. And the answer was no because it ‘wouldn’t have been a clear and obvious mistake’.
VAR is utter shite in its current setup. If it won’t over rule that but it’ll label a player offside by his armpit or onside like palaces goal against us, I’m not interested. The current USA free just picks and chooses what is clear and obvious and still refuses to make big decisions agains big clubs at home - it’s utterly pointless

In fact I'd love to hear an explanation of why it wouldn't have been given under the old rules. It was as blatant as they come and he knew exactly what he was doing.
With decisions like that, the VAR officials or committee really should address the public/media with exact details of why that wasn't deemed a foul, especially in comparison with other examples from this season which have been given. They have to be answerable to someone.
But of course they won't.

As much as they have been good this season and there is no denying that.. I hate seeing them get all the fucking luck.
That handball yesterday was so so blatant even a VAR call wasn't needed. Liverpool will win the league and the media will absolutely cream themselves silly but seeing them win the league whilst they get every single decision go for them leaves a sour taste. The var call last week in Firmino offside, even the media seemed to be on Liverpool's side over it.

Have no love for Liverpool but as long as Chelsea and especially Spurs are out of the picture I am fairly indifferent and disinterested as to who wins it.
I’d be a bit amused if Leicester came through and pipped everyone again though.

They had a similar lead last year and fucked it up. Man City will feel rightly aggrieved at the bias shown to the red scouse today and will use it to motivate themselves. They should had 2 penalties today and missed plenty of opportunities.
